Victoria Square – 30 November 2012

Event Details

The first Fork on the Road was held on Friday 30 November 2012 from 11am to 3pm in Victoria Square/ Tarndanyangga.

It featured some hot weather and morning shower and around 25 food vendors registered to take part in the event with food ranging from Spanish, Mexican and vegetarian to coffee, desserts and ice cream. Vendors include La Cantina, Chimichurri Grill, Veggie Velo, Fair Espresso, Giro Gelato and the ever popular Burger Theory.

Supported by Splash Adelaide, a joint campaign by the State Government and Adelaide City Council that aims to bring our city streets and laneways to life over summer.

At the time Acting Lord Mayor David Plumridge said that Splash events are about transforming city streets and squares into places for people.“Food trucks have become enormously popular and bringing a whole lot of them together in one spot is sure to draw a crowd. It gives people a chance to experience a different food experience while supporting local, independent, small businesses,” David said.

One idea became reality on this day and ultimately was really successful, there was great range of food on offer and thousands of workers came along and grapped some lunch, in all honesty the numbers caught many by surprise but we sure did learn and get better from it.

Here is a great recap of the first Fork from Dave Walsh at Weekend Notes
